According to the survey, only half of small businesses plan to hire for new positions this year (2014). However, small business owners are optimistic about profits and growth.

Of these small businesses, 45 percent have extra cash on hand for growth, or to handle set backs, while 40 percent are not in debt but don’t have extra cash. 15 percent are operating their business from a position of debt.
