Health Insurance Historical Tables

If you are interested in better understanding who does and does not purchase health insurance in the United States, check on the Census Bureau's revised figures on health insurance coverage.Census Bureau

Background

In September 2011, the Census Bureau released revised figures on health insurance coverage from the 2000 to 2010 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplements (CPS ASEC), reflecting enhancements to the editing process. Because the data after the enhancements is not consistent with earlier data, the Census Bureau introduced a new historical series (HIB-1 to HIB-8) and discontinued the HIA- series.

Here Are the Tables of Data:

HIB-2. Health Insurance Coverage Status and Type of Coverage--All Persons by Age and Sex: 1999 to 2011 [XLS - 136k]

HIB-3. Health Insurance Coverage Status and Type of Coverage--Children Under 18 by Age: 1999 to 2011 [XLS - 54k]
