Health Care Reform, Insurance and Employee Benefits

Everything you need to know about health insurance

Important Topics Regarding Health Care Reform

A few weeks ago, I told you my next post would make an argument in favor of AT&T canceling their health insurance plan in 2014.  This analysis is complete.  However, before we tell you "why AT&T should drop their group health insurance coverage in 2014", we must first walk you through a few related topics in detail.

Over the next few days, we will be adding posts on the following topics:

  1. The penalties for not buying health insurance (the "Individual Mandate"
  2. The penalties for not offering "affordable" and "qualified" health insurance (the "Employer Mandate")
  3. How the state health insurance exchanges work (the "Health Insurance Exchanges")
  4. The government subsidies for individual health insurance purchased by people with low and moderate incomes (the "Individual Subsidies")

In order to understand the argument in favor of AT&T dropping their group plan in 2014, you must have a solid understanding of the above pieces and how they fit together.

We look forward to you comments over the next week.
