How Health Care Insurance Reform Affects HRAs (Health Reimbursement Accounts)

Note: None of this should be taken as legal or tax advice.

The health care reform bill creates the following restriction on the use of health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs):
  • Beginning in 2011, non-prescribed over-the-counter drugs will no longer be qualified medical expenses
Health care reform also includes several incentives for employers to switch to HRAs and individual policies over the next few years.
